Samantha Roberts
Samantha Roberts is Managing Director of Syncona Investment Management Ltd.
She has responsibility for running the business day to day, making the required changes to drive Syncona’s future strategy and using her clinical and reimbursement expertise to drive value creation across the portfolio and future investments. Sam is a Board member of Spur Therapeutics
Sam has over 20 years’ experience in bringing healthcare innovation to patients through her background as a clinician, payor and regulator. Most recently as Chief Executive of the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) where she led the organisation to be more agile and innovative, increasing the speed of medicines assessments by 25% and assessments of digital and AI technology 30-fold. Prior to NICE, Sam worked across the private sector at McKinsey & Company and as Managing Director, Health & Care at Legal & General as well as in the public sector as Chief Executive of the Accelerated Access Collaborative and Director of Innovation, Research and Life Sciences at NHS England.
Sam holds a medical degree, an MBA, and a DPhil in Evidence-Based Health Care from the University of Oxford.
