Prof. Stuart Forbes

Stuart is the Professor of Transplantation and Regenerative Medicine at the University of Edinburgh, the Director of the Centre for Regenerative Medicine, and a Consultant Hepatologist in the Scottish Liver Transplant Unit. He is also Director UKRMP The Engineered Cell Environment HUB. Stuart has pioneered the research of macrophage cell therapy for liver disease, elucidating the underlying biology of macrophages and applying this learning to the development of novel treatments for liver disease. Stuart trained in Medicine at the University of Edinburgh, undertook a PhD at Imperial College, and worked in London as a Hepatologist before returning to Edinburgh in 2006.
